Hello and welcome! I have had the pleasure of being a part of the Redfish community for many years as a teacher and also formerly as a parent. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this strong team of parents, staff and students supported by our greater community.
My passions for the outdoors and place-based learning inspire me, and blend well with the team-based, community approach to planning that is invested in our intermediate classes.
I finished my undergraduate degree at UBC, majoring in Canadian History, and completed the West Kootenay Teacher Education Program in 2008. My years of teaching experience have been in small rural schools in Alberta and in the SD8 Kootenay Lake School District. I love the unique opportunities rural schools present to students, staff, and families.
Having grown up in the Kootenays, I know that this amazing area has so much to offer to all, especially for our youth. Connection to nature, environmental stewardship, and sustainable living are essential pieces to becoming a well-rounded and successful citizens in our world today and in the future. It is my hope to bring learning opportunities to my students that allow for these areas to develop as well as encourage the growth of personal passions and real life skills.
Please feel free to connect anytime. I look forward to working with you!
