Hello and welcome. I have the great privilege of offering the intermediate program at Redfish, now in its 5th year, working with grades 5-7. I feel lucky to be teaching alongside an inspiring staff and caring community.
I began my teaching career in outdoor education, running youth leadership groups in the Ontario and B.C. wilderness. I have an B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of British Columbia, with a focus on education in relation to class, gender, and ethnicity. I received my B.Ed. at the University of Toronto, OISE in 2008, and have my Waldorf Teacher Training through mentorship and courses from the Rudolf Steiner College. I have over 15 years of teaching experience across diverse learning communities.
Drawing on my interdisciplinary background and my specific interest in the middle years, I foster an inclusive and creative learning environment, providing experiences that lead to inquiry and exploration. The Redfish intermediate class has a focus on outdoor learning (including two camping trips), fine arts in the classroom as well as a class stage production and an electives program that offers choice activities such as cooking or woodwork. Curriculum is covered in a block format so students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in one theme for a month at a time.
Away from teaching, I am a mother of two and live in a house my partner and I built. I love to camp, cook, bike, hike, ski, and create any art that means I can work with my hands.
Ms. Hodgson
