Hello and welcome,

As Redfish School’s Kindergarten/Grade 1 teacher, I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing school, staff, and community team! The local area that surrounds our school is second to none. How grateful I am to be one of the first stepping-stones to your child’s educational journey. I value the education and the experiences they have already gained from home and look forward to building and growing with them.

I received my B.Ed. from the University of Saskatchewan and hold a piece of the prairies very dear to my heart.  I have been teaching for the past eight years in various roles throughout SD #8 before coming here to Redfish School. One of those years included teaching Grade 2/3 here at the school. I have obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Education and to further and deepen my understanding of this unique age of learners, will be working on my Masters Degree in Early Literacy Education. I believe a good teacher is being a student first.

Apart from teaching, I am a mother of two young, adventurous and kind children. My husband and I enjoy exploring the Kootenays with them and for me, reliving my own childhood experiences having grown up in Nelson.  I also have a passion for physical activity and getting children outside and playing on the playgrounds, in the forests and street hockey on a quiet cul-de-sac street. I believe children need to experience the world around them through play, their interaction with nature and each other.

I am excited to begin this journey with our kindergarten students and families. In kindergarten, we will get our hands dirty, our feet wet and our minds active, living and learning in this wonderful community at Redfish school.
