SPUDS IN TUBS
BC Agriculture in the Classroom’s (BCAITC’s) Spuds in Tubs program offers classrooms “an interactive educational initiative where students learn plant biology, soil health, and sustainable agriculture by growing potatoes in classroom tubs.” The class took full advantage of the program and yielded a plethora of tasty taters for the table.
GREAT SEED RACE
Students staged a Great Seed Race in which they monitored and measured the growth of marigolds versus tomatoes.
MICRO GARDEN + POTTING UP
Using the classroom’s micro garden, students brought forth an assortment of parsley, peppers, potatoes, radishes, tomatoes, and so on from seeds and then honed their ‘potting up’ skills as the classroom crops crested the containers. They food grown by the class was later prepared and enjoyed as part of a class celebration with parents.

As a next step, the class has secured a tower garden and is planning to take their green skills to new heights.
