Dear REDFISH Families,

Week 4 at REDFISH saw our school community orientate our collective and individual minds and hearts toward today’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. In various, age-appropriate ways, each classroom took time to reflect on some of the darker aspects of Canada’s past, consider what this means for us now, and come up with ways that we can move ourselves and each other forward toward a brighter future.

A few highlights and housekeeping items follow…

NEW SCHOOL SONG

At our school-wide assembly on Tuesday, REDFISH Music Teacher, Ms. Keraiff, unveiled our new school song. Ms. Keraiff wrote the song from scratch in collaboration with her music classes at REDFISH. Needless to say, the song was an instant hit (classic) and came complete with actions for the students.  

TRUTH and RECONCILIATION ASSEMBLY

Our Truth and Reconciliation Day assembly on Friday was an impactful and collaborative event as each homeroom worked hard throughout the week to bring something unique and personal to the assembly. We were thankful to be able to welcome our own Aboriginal Student Success Teacher, Ms. Legg, as our special guest at Friday’s assembly.   

FALL WEATHER

Please continue to help your kiddos dress appropriately each day for the ever-changing, and sometimes inclement, weather this fall.

STUDENT ABSENCES

Thank you for continuing to report your child’s absences and lates through the online reporting feature on the school website. If you are emailing classroom teachers with information regarding absences and lates, please be sure to include clerical.red@sd8.bc.ca in the ‘cc’ as well.

NO SCHOOL on MONDAY

Please remember that all schools across the district are closed on Monday, October 2 in observance of Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
