Principal's MESSAGE (October 9, 2023)
Dear REDFISH Families,
I hope you have been soaking up the beautiful weather and brilliant colours on this early-October long weekend. Following are a few highlights, heads-ups, and housekeeping items as we head into Week 6…
Our school community gathered on Friday afternoon to honour Terry Fox’s legacy. The school met together on the hill, where Mrs. Goggins shared some thoughtful and reflective words prepared by Mrs. Heddon, before heading out on the walk/run. The older kiddos ran laps of the school grounds while the younger students walked the trails of the nature park across the street.
SCHOOL PHOTO DAY
School photo day is set for this WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11. Feel free to click here for some photo day ‘tips and tricks’ offered by Mountain West Studios.
STUDENT INFO VERFICIATION FORMS and SCHOOL SUPPLY PAYMENTS
Student information verification forms (i.e. sent home with students back in September) and school supply payments (i.e. $40 per student) are now overdue. Thank you for taking care of these items as soon as possible if you haven’t already done so.
The school office will follow-up with parents individually over the next couple of weeks to help facilitate the process. Once again, please let mark.bonikowsky@sd8.bc.ca know if the school supply payment presents a financial hardship for you, and we will work out a plan together.
SD8 CODE of CONDUCT and APPEALS BYLAW
Each year, schools are asked to remind staff, students, and parents of the SD8 Code of Conduct and Appeals Bylaw. Please find this information linked above.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
REDFISH has been working with the BC’s Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP) to update its user account. Once that process is complete, a parent volunteer onboarding workshop will be scheduled at REDFISH… likely later this month. Please stay tuned.
BREAKFAST SNACK PROGRAM
REDFISH is working towards establishing a user-pay breakfast snack program option through the Munch-a-Lunch platform. A system will continue to be in place to support families experiencing financial barriers to food access. Please stay tuned for more details.
FRESH to YOU FUDRAISER (HOMEROOM 2)
Mrs. Dehnel and Homeroom 2 are once again running a ‘Fresh to You’ vegetable fundraiser this fall. They are taking vegetable orders up until WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18. Please see the note from Mrs. Dehnel below…
“Just a friendly reminder that Class 2 is organizing the ‘Fresh to You’ vegetable fundraiser. It's a great opportunity to purchase bundles of fresh BC vegetables. The order deadline is October 18 so don't miss out! Orders will arrive between November 15-25. If you need a new order form, please email Mrs. Dehnel at jen.dehnel@sd8.bc.ca. Thank you for supporting our fundraising efforts!”
Art Cards by Kids FUNDRAISER
The RPAC is once again facilitating the Art Cards by Kids fundraiser. REDFISH teachers have worked hard with their classes to facilitate the wonderful artwork that will adorn the cards, and the student artwork has already been collected and submitted to the printer. Order information to follow...
