Dear REDFISH Families,

Happy December! As you might have guessed, I was happy to see the fresh layer of snow on the grounds of REDFISH yesterday morning…

On another random note, I came across a carton of free-range eggs on the counter in the school office earlier this week…

The eggs reminded me a bit of us… our school community… and the greater community beyond REDFISH. Like eggs, we are all different. Some are bigger… some are smaller… some are louder… others quieter… different shapes… different sizes… different tones, tastes, strengths, stretches, personalities, and so on… and yet we are all connected by the same carton… all welcome… all along together for the ride together. I’m glad it’s this way… and I’m glad to be able to work with so many good eggs at REDFISH.

Here are a few timely updates as we head into the final two weeks of school before winter break…

WINTER CONCERT ASSEMBLY (Wednesday, December 13, 2023 @ 1:00 PM)

Please note that we have moved our winter concert assembly start time to 1:00 PM. Each homeroom will be contributing to the event in some way from our main stage in the GYM at REDFISH. Families are invited, and there will be a Christmas bake sale fundraiser table in the GYM following the concert. Please RSVP via this online form if you are planning to attend. Thank you!

WRITTEN LEARNING UPDATES

Written learning updates for first term were re-published to the MyED Parent Portal on Thursday. Please use this opportunity to practice logging in to your Parent Portal account in preparation for paperless reports in March.

REDFISH PAC MEETING (Wednesday, November 29, 2023 @ 7:00 PM)

Your REDFISH Parent Advisory Council (RPAC) met this past Wednesday, November 29 over Google Meet. Please email RPAC at redfishpac@gmail.com if you are interested in helping out in some way… or if you would simply like to be added to the RPAC email list.

INCLEMENT WEATHER (OUTDOOR BREAKS)

As we head into winter and more inclement weather, please continue to ensure that your children are prepared to stay warm and dry out in the elements during recess and lunch breaks… with toques, gloves, warm coats, and appropriate footwear.

SNOW ZONE

With the arrival of snow, we have marked off a Snow Zone in the far corner of the upper field…

… As explained the students, this area is set aside for kids who like to pick up snow and throw it around. Snow is not to be picked up and thrown around anywhere else on the school grounds. If students do not like to pick up snow and throw it around, they are asked to stay out of the Snow Zone. Snow forts, snow castles, snow people, snow creatures, and ‘snow’ on can be built anywhere else on the school grounds, rather than in the snow zone.

PROCTER COMMUNITY POTLUCK + TALENT SHOW

The Procter Community Society is hosting a community potluck and talent show on Saturday, December 16… admission by donation… doors at 6:00 PM… dinner at 6:30 PM… talent at 7:30 PM.

UPCOMING DATES

Wednesday, December 13 (Winter Concert Assembly | 1:00 PM)

Saturday, December 16 – Monday, January 1 (Winter Break)

Tuesday, January 2 (School Resumes)

Take care!
