Dear REDFISH Families,

I would like to start this week’s message by wishing each and every one of our REDFISH families an abundance of quality time… and many merry memories… with family and friends over the holiday season! Here are a few bits and bytes to mull over as we head into winter break…

WINTER CONCERT MAGIC

Something magical happens when we draw together as a community at REDFISH, and this past Wednesday was no different as we packed our gymnasium to the gills for our winter concert extravaganza.

REDFISH families were treated to talent-packed performances from each homeroom… led by our very own in-house MUSIC Specialist Teacher, Ms. Ali KERAIFF. The performances were capped off by a rousing rendition of our REDFISH theme song, complete with an audience-backed special edition encore.

Thank you to all of our students, staff, and families who came out to make this school community gathering one for the books!

Please note that photos or videos taken at the concert may not be posted to social media out of respect for parents who do not want their children’s images posted on social media.

SWIM LESSONS (REDFISH X 4)

REDFISH has collaborated with the NDCC to offer a four-session ‘Swimming and Water Safety Education’ program to all REDFISH students throughout the month of February 2024. As part of the process, parents will need to complete a SWIM LEVEL QUESTIONNAIRE for each of their children. Paper copies of the document were sent home with students this afternoon. Please take some time to complete the questionnaire over winter break and return it to your child’s teacher by January 8, 2024 at the latest.

As well, REDFISH will need to call on a healthy crew of parent volunteers from our vetted parent volunteer list to ensure we meet NDCC’s helper-to-student ratio of 1:3 for students under the age of seven.

FREE STUDENT LIBRARY CARDS (Area ‘E’)

The Nelson Public Library is pleased to offer all students living in Area ‘E’ access to a FREE library card. Area ‘E’ residents are also invited to complete an online survey to provide input as to how the library can best serve families from Area ‘E’.

NELSON VOLLEYBALL CAMP (Volleyball BC)

Volleyball BC is running a volleyball camp for 10 and 11-year-olds out of SELKIRK College in Nelson in January and February 2024.

PROCTER COMMUNITY POTLUCK + TALENT SHOW

The Procter Community Society is hosting a community potluck and talent show tomorrow evening… Saturday, December 16, 2023… doors at 6:00 PM… dinner at 6:30 PM… talent at 7:30 PM… admission by donation.

UPCOMING DATES
